The 7 p.m. game between North Haledon students, teachers, firefighters and police officers started in 2007, organizer Janelle Feather of the PTO said.

"The underclassmen are very excited to come and see their teachers play," Feather told Daily Voice. "Every year the kids get closer and closer to being eighth-graders, and it's really a highlight of one of the privelages of being an eighth-grader [to play in the game]."

Students from High Mountain and Memorial schools will join the teachers, firefighters and cops in the games. A record 62 eighth-graders signed up to play this year, Feather said.

While no single winner will be named, there's still a rivalry between the different schools, plus the firefighters versus the police.

"There's a lot of competition," Feather said. "Everyone, they do their practice prior to the event. Really it's bragging rights, of course."

Tickets cost $3 for students and $5 for adults. The PTO members keep the prices low so as many families as possible can come together for a fun night, Feather said.
